When Ubisoft revealed Assassin's Creed 3, I was both excited that they would be covering the American Revolution, and disappointed that the series wouldn't be moving to France. After spending so many years in Italy during the Renaissance with Ezio Auditore, it seemed like the next logical destination. Having visited the city of Paris myself, I was intrigued to see what the amazing AC team could make with the rich Gothic architecture of the City of Love as a jumping off point. Now, a few years later, Ubi announced Assassin's Creed Unity. I'm almost happy they waited. AC Unity will be rendered in full next-gen glory.
In tandem with the upcoming release of Unity, Design By Humans held a promotional design contest. I jumped at the chance to express my love for the series and my French heritage. I don't normally do contest, but DBU actually offers prizes better than a $50 gift card or the scourge of artists everywhere "Free Exposure (Slave Labor)"
In the making of my submission "Revolutionary Perspective," I used a variety of skill sets, such as free hand drawing, custom made brushes for Adobe Illustrator, and some photos I had from my actual trip to Paris. I recorded almost every step for the timelapse video seen above. This was my first project completed with my new Cintiq. I think the improvement in quality shows.
